Raichur district is situated in the eastern part of Karnataka. Spread across 5 taluks; Devadurga, Lingasugur, Manvi, Raichur and Sindhanur. District has the only gold manufacturing unit in the country and the nation’s most efficient thermal power plant.

Economic Profile

·        The total Gross District Domestic Product (GDDP) of the district estimated during the year 2012-13 is Rs. 5,212 crore.

·         In the year 2012-13, the per capita annual income of the district was Rs. 47,752.

Industrial profile

·        Exports agriculture products to European countries.

·        APMC yards- 2 units of Karnataka State Warehouse Corporation Ltd. and Karnataka Milk Federation.

·        A multipurpose cold storage of 5000 MT capacity in the district.

·        It has been a traditional agricultural based economy. Major agricultural produces include rice, cotton, groundnut and pulses. There are many rice and cotton processing industries here.

·        Service industry located here caters to needs of the surrounding area. Fertilizers, agricultural implement repairers are the major services available. There is a Raichur Thermal Power Station in Shakthinagar. It has 8 units, producing 210 MW each, employing ISO 14001, an internationally accepted specification for environmental management systems.
